In the
PCWorld.com - Best of 2004 category
Web-Based E-Mail category the
Mailblocks services is honoured.
Here's my 2 eurocents why this service is not foolproof:
* If the Mailblocks servers need to challenge/response to every spammer trying to beat the system with millions of spam messages, it is bound to go down!
* In the Challenge/Response 2.0 system, you only need to answer one Challenge message to be considered non-spammer. So when I send a quote request to several companies, I can start spamming them.
* Taken from their website: "Want to be a pre-approved sender? Send an email to goodstanding@mailblocks.com and answer the Challenge message. The next time you mail to a Mailblocks customer, your email will go straight to their Inbox."
Fantastic! Let all spammers send a pre-registration mail and off we go!
* Visually impaired users can send a message to the Mailblocks Customer Support team and they will solve the puzzle for them. I think there will be an explosion of visually impaired spammers now!
That's just the start. The more I look at it, the more disadvantages and problems arise in front of my eyes...
