Microsoft has finally released the Consolas TrueType font, originally intended for release with Vista. It is version 1.0 that appears now (I've been using v0.9 for a while now) and comes with an installer to set it as default for Visual Studio 2006. Yes, you read it correctly VS2006... that is what Microsoft wants us to believe. I suppose it's just a typo and they mean VS2005. Anyway, just install it, and set it as default font for all your text-based editors like
Metapad,
UltraEdit, etc. You must be a licensed user of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005/2006 to rightfully install it.
